When Nokia N95 released it revolutionized the way the world looked at a mobile phone , with its hefty multimedia features and its whopping 5MP camera (which was a big thing that time) it took mobile phones to next level . Now , Nokia has released N96 recently which they say as an apt successor for nokia N95 ,let us now find out how apt the successor is .........

3.Multimedia savvy nature.

1. Sluggish performance (due to downgrading the processor from N95)
2. Poor battery life
3. The slider is a bit uneasy to use.
4. No dedicated music buttons.
The Final verdict :
Nokia N96 is not a revolutionary product like its predecessor N95 but its an evolutionary product from nokia. Technically speaking , Nokia N96 is just stunning when it comes to combining all the Multimedia features (like Tv out etc.) into a single mobile . if you ask me about choosing between N95 and N96 I would always put my money on Nokia N95 .
Design :
At your first look ,You will notice that Nokia N96 holds some similarity in its design with N81 8GB (you can see N81 8GB here ).The handset is slightly on bulkier side at 103 x 55 x 18mm , suprisingly it weighs only 125 g (a few grams lighter than its predecessor N95 ).This due to the inclution of DVB-H receiver along with the memory hot swap slot to be found on the left.
The phone houses a dual slider which isn't as smooth as the N95.Also, the slide-up ends a little abruptly, causing the fat bulk of the underside of the face to come in the way of keys 1, 2 and 3.The phone also houses a display of 2.8inches with an ability to display 16 million colors.
The kickstand is quite cool, and sits around the 5MP camera at the
back. Another important addition to the old design is the existence of the dual LED flash lights. The N95 had only one. The lens cover is missing, which is a bad move.
performance :
The speed of the N96 has taken a beating with Nokia's unusual decision
to downgrade the processor. It now comes with a Dual ARM 9 264MHz CPU,while the N95 had the much faster Dual ARM 11 332MHz CPU. I feel the processor is the main cause for the phone's sluggish performance. Having so much space is one thing; to be able to pull it
off with ease is another.
Music and video :
The music from the nokia N96 is quite good to hear ,even though the feel is similar to nokia N95. Its supports plenty of formats like Mp3,AAC,eAAC,eAAC+ and WMA and much more, but the phone doesn't support WAV format audio files .The major down when it comes to music is absence of a Dedicated key for Music.
And here is the good news , This phone houses a 3.5 mm jack which means that you could enjoy the music from N96 through variety of high end head phones. and the phone also supports A2DP so you can fix yourself a meal of good music using some high-end sets. The phone has stereo FM , with internet radio as an option.
coming to the video player , it supports only 3GP and MP4 formats (scaled max QVGA on device, SDTV on TV-out, QCIF 30 fps in Realplayer).
Mobile TV :
Nokia has included a DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting - Handheld) receiver , the phone also has a TV out with the requisite cables bundled with the pack .It's a mighty achievement, although the videos frame badly on the big screen. I would have liked to see an option to record TV content, but maybe that will take some time.
Battery :
Nokia N96 comes with Li-Ion 950 mAh (BL-5F) ,Which is really a down when compared to N95. Given the fact that this device supports plenty of multimedia features nokia should have come out with a better battery.
